Wait until 8th
Wait until 8th is parent-led and grassroots initiative to empower parents and caregivers to delay giving smartphones for kids until at least the end of 8th grade.​
Please note that this pledge is for smartphones only. If you would like your child to have a phone that has calling and texting ability, you still can sign the pledge!

The district-wide Wait Until 8th Wellesley chapter will be hosting an evening screening of Screenagers at Hunnewell, followed by a Q&A panel with leaders in pediatric mental health and educators sharing what they're seeing in school. If you're curious about how phone and internet use may be impacting your children's learning, attention span, and mental health, come learn with us!

"Researchers collected survey data on 4,584 students in grades 3, 4 and 5 between 2014 and 2016. Overall, 9.5 percent of children reported being a victim of cyberbullying. Children who owned cell phones were significantly more likely to report being a victim of cyberbullying, especially in grades 3 and 4."
